Getting started
TAPE2 runs on Robinhood Chain. You need a wallet on that chain, a little ETH for gas, WETH for premiums and strikes, and, if you want to write, some CASHCAT or PONS.
The chain
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Network name | Robinhood Chain |
| Chain id | 4663 |
| RPC | https://rpc.mainnet.chain.robinhood.com |
| Gas token | ETH |
| Explorer | https://robinhoodchain.blockscout.com |
Add it to MetaMask, Rabby or any wallet that takes a custom network. Robinhood Chain is an Arbitrum Orbit chain with 0.1-second blocks; transactions confirm almost at once.
Before launch
The app at /app runs against the real pools today. You can read the live price of a call, move the strike, and see the tape. Transaction buttons read "Opens at launch" until the contract is deployed. Nothing on the site shows a contract or token address before that, so if you see one somewhere else, it is not TAPE2.
Buying a ticket
- Open the app and pick a pool.
- Choose a ticket from the list. Each one shows the amount, the strike, the expiry and the premium.
- Approve WETH and pay the premium. The ticket is yours.
- Any time before expiry, if the coin is worth more to you than the strike, exercise: pay the strike in WETH and receive the coins.
- If you never exercise, the ticket lapses at expiry. The premium is all you spent.
Writing a ticket
- Hold CASHCAT or PONS in your wallet.
- Open the app, pick the pool, enter the amount, a strike and an expiry of 7 days or less.
- The app shows the chain's price for that ticket and how it was computed. You may add a markup of up to 100%, never a discount.
- Approve and write. Your coins are locked in the contract.
- When someone buys, 99% of the premium arrives in your wallet, in WETH, at once.
- If the holder exercises, you receive the strike in WETH. If not, call expire after expiry (or wait for anyone to) and your coins come back.
Read risks for writers first. It is short and it has numbers.
Reproducing a price yourself
You do not need the app to check a price. The pricing recipe is one cast call and twenty lines of Python.
Gas
Robinhood Chain gas is paid in ETH and is cheap. A purchase reads the 6-hour window from the pool inside the transaction, and the three long windows are refreshed by whoever calls refresh when they are older than 12 hours; the app does this for you when needed.
